"I will try to be fair in my review, but I did return the product for reasons that many people may not care about. It is extremely powerful. It is easy to charge with the usb charger cable included. It is quite sturdy and seems very well made. When I purchased mine I could not tell from the description if it had separate controls (buttons) for power and "mode". I want one that has separate controls at this price point. I use it on low power in most cases and do not want an errant power off-and-back-on to send blinding flashing lights at me. Further, if I need the blinding flashes for an intruder, I don't want to cycle through 5 modes to find it. Again most people will not take issue with this but for this price I want a product that eliminates these problems. In all other respects I would give it 5 stars. UPDATE: I was contacted by ANKER and unlike other manufacturers they did not plead with (or bribe) me to increase my review's STARS. Instead they told me my comments were passed along to design and engineering as suggestions. They were gracious and helpful even after I returned their product! That earned them an extra STAR. I do truly like ANKER products and now I see they have excellent support."
"I am picky about my flashlights. I use them A LOT. I was skeptical about this one, but it is seriously bright and I am thankful for all the reviews before mine that led me to this purchase. Pros: It's rugged, easy to charge, & the charge lasts forever. (Even on the brightest setting which I don't change often). Can charge in the car and at home (USB / wall plug / removable battery). Fits in a pocket, not too heavy, not to light. Somewhat con: the 2 strobe functions are useless to me. There are no adjustments (wide/narrow). I'm glad I purchased this one instead of spending a lot more on one with less lumens. It's been 5 months now & I haven't had a problem or complaint. Pictures are Anker Ultra-Bright v/s Streamlight Polytac LED - not a scientific or professional study by any means. I'm not against Streamlight in any way, that one is my daily carry and it is definitely useful! The Anker finds the dogs & critters much better at night. I did not write this review for a survey or promotion."
"I am speechless! I had a chance to take this baby for a walk around the neighborhood for the first time and... wow, this is a powerful flashlight! First of all, I have to admit that I couldn't use it much because I was afraid of hitting my neighbors' homes and getting in trouble (we have our fair share of crazies). I guess what this flashlight really requires is a walk in the outdoors, but that'll have to wait. Still, I had a few opportunities to test not just its brightness (it reminds me of those classic Sci-Fi movies when the UFO is about to abduct someone), but also its range: I was able to perfectly see the ferris wheel at the fair from 700 feet and trees at a similar distance were just glowing in white. This thing is incredible... you will have to try it to believe it. Congrats to Anker on another well-made (and affordable) product."
"Anker is most probably one of the best of the best company's out there. I've found their products to be heads above any other that I've tried before. In particular, their flashlights and portable charging units, are so far ahead of other products in the same category. In the rare event that you do have a problem with one of their items, their customer service is the very best that you will encounter. I own several of their products and use them daily. This particular flashlight is very good for security work, very very bright and durable. Very highly recommended. Gary Ryno. Retired cop."
"I am writing this review just after receiving the product today. Time will tell if problems develop. This Anker flashlight has 3 Cree LED in its head, a rechargeable 5 Amp•hour cell, and a way to charge the cell using a USB-micro socket. The latter means that the large-capacity electric cell can be recharged from a cell phone charger or from a computer USB port. Charge time is 8 hours; usage time between charges unknown so far. The light produced by the 3 Cree LEDs is very bright but is concentrated in a spot. Shining the brightest illumination on a wall about 19 feet away, the circular illuminated spot is about 4 feet in diameter or less. Unlike several single LED flashlights, there is no zoom capability to widen or narrow the light beam by adjusting the optic at the output end. The narrow beam is fixed at all light levels. The illumination modes are steady bright, steady medium, steady dim, blinking, and SOS Morse code. The flashlight remembers the last mode used and starts at the same mode when used again. On the flashlight received, I am not sure if the steady dim light is available. One potential problem (a speculation): there are two screw caps at the rear end of the flashlight. The innermost one has a spring to touch the electric cell on its negative end and hold it in place. There the USB micro charger may be inserted. The second cap is attached to the first with an elastic string. The second, outermost, cap is screwed onto the first cap to cover the USB socket. The elastic string is too short to allow the second cap to be rotated freely to a neutral position. When the second cap is screwed onto the first the elastic string must be twisted; at some time, it will be twisted too much and will surely break. The flashlight comes with a rechargeable electric cell, a cord lanyard, and a short USB micro cable. There is a claim that the flashlight is water resistant, but both end caps must be tightly sealed for the claim to be somewhat true. This is a pricey flashlight. Other flashlights are as bright, or more so, but are a larger size. A decision to buy this flashlight depends on the need to have a very bright small flashlight that has a narrow spot illumination. Otherwise some other flashlights, some from a different brand, might be more satisfactory."
Anker Boulder LC130 is the best rechargable LED torch I have ever tested. This flashlight is extremely powerful and is perfect for a household flashlight as well as to take with you on your camping and hiking trips. This flashlight features 3 Cree XP-G2 high LED for a max 1300 output. I don't have a meter to measure the actual lumens but comparing this to my nitecore MH20 which outputs 1000 lumens max it is slightly brighter so it is safe to say it is 1300 lumens as advertised. The light also features 5 different modes such is high, med, low, strobe, and SOS. The overall build quality feels solid but I don't think this is HAIII finish. This light is powered by a 26650 battery with a 5000 mah capacity. One neat feature this light has is you can charge the battery itself in the flashlight with a usb cable provided by anker. I have submerged this light in a tub full of water for 30 minutes and the light works flawlessly.
There are many great things about the LED torch but I think the best feature is the included 5000m. Ah 26650 rechargable battery. I have put this in my backpack for a few days now and it has been of great use! This is one solid piece. It is extremely bright and the battery lasts a long time. I have been surprised a couple of times that it didn't break.*It doesn't move around too much and I like the fact that it is splash resistant. I would rather it had a way to focus the beam, but I really can't complain because it really is a great flashlight. This is a well made heavy duty little flashlight. Super bright and easy charging. I don't think it's overpriced for how well it's made. Im really glad I decided to purchase this model. Anker makes great flashlights at an outstanding value. Looking to upgrade from your old flashlight, want a bright and rechargeable flashlight for work, hunting or personal use? Anker has your back.
Thanks to the high capacity of the rechargeable 26650 battery the Anker Boulder will last you a long time. The 3600 mah current draws significantly less electricity from the batteries than a comparable inverter based on voltage and current. The resulting brightness is 3x brighter than a comparable flashlight using discrete electronics. The 3 LEDs cast a warm, fuzzy light that stretches before your very eyes. I measured the outdoor illumination using my own eyes rather than any scientific test, but the outdoor setting is still significantly higher than any other flashlight I've owned. The light is so intense that even the mosters bright lights are barely visible in the dimly lit spaces. The all-in-one design with multiple lighting modes is a new concept in flashlights. Traditional flashlights feature a switch to activate one of the different lighting modes. For example, the flashlight with the SOS signal is activated by a button while the flashlight with the S transmitted by a friend or relative. In contrast, turning the light on or off changes the mode.
If you operate the LED torch on higest output mode it will last for about six hours without dimming. But if you use the light on lowest power mode for about four hours now, and then switch to medium power mode for about an hour each time, its still going to sustain a bright light for me. So i will have to keep an eye on it to make sure it is kept in the proper place. But overall, thumbs up. Anker continue to raise the bar when it comes to simple, electronic solutions whether you're at home or on the road. Inside the simple, frustration free packaging, you'll find a long lasting, tough, hefty-feel in your hand flashlight.
The Anker Boulder LC139 is shock, dust, and IPX7 water resistant. It has a last used mode memory, so you don't have to cycle through all the modes to get to your favorite setting. It can run over time, which is a concern in special operations. The high rate of fire and exceptional water resistance is a greater threat to soldiers on patrol or somebody close by. The LC130 has a five output setting. Three are LEDs, one of which is a pulsed light that creates an extended beam. The other two are more advanced lights designed for use in combat. One of the best selling flashlights I ever owned. Ever since I bought one of these flashlights for my entire company. I have been impressed with the quality of every Anker product I have purchased. I would highly recommend buying from Anker whenever possible. Excellent product again from Anker. Great again for the customer satisfaction. Great again for the prices. The flashlight is sturdy and very bright; just what I was looking for and it works as advertised.
I have not tried it but Anker says that you can have the LED torch submerged in water at a depth of one meter for 30 minutes. Terrific torch for the price. I have several other products from Anker and have never had a problem with any of them. The flashlight is sturdy and after spending a lot of money on it is dependable. It is blinding if you shine it in someone's face. I take it with me when walking the dog late at night or early in the morning and it has been great so far. Solid construction and very sturdy. I've always trusted Anker products when it comes to external batteries and phone batteries, and this is yet another outstanding product from an outstanding company. It's a great flashlight that doesn't require any other external battery.
