"Wow! This flashlight is a small monster. It it a thick hulking mass in your hands and you feel the girth of it. It makes you want want to shine the flashlight everywhere. You don’t realize how bright it is until you go in into fully lit room still see how bright it is! The flashlight has a nice texture to help with grip, especially with something that has such a large diameter. It seems to be made more of metal than plastic. The charger port is hidden by a silicon tab to keep water and dirt out. It chargers with a type c wire. There are three settings for the brightness. 1) blinding 2) less blinding 3) safe Just kidding. It’s high, med, and low. The low is like a bed light brightness. Medium is like a cheap flashlight. And high is, well a small sun. The edge or crown of the flashlight has ridges for protection. I mean if you haven’t used the flashlight as a bludgeon already I guess you can use designed edge to cause more damage. I’m very happy with this flashlight although my neighbors, not so much;)"
"Very bright! Batteries are standard off brand Li-Ion 18650 2,200mah and provide about 20 minutes run time on high, 90 minutes on low. Strobe is activated by holding down the on/off button for 2 seconds. The unit is pretty heavy duty and with that many Cree LED's you can't expect a 2+ hour run time. The only design defect is that you are required to turn the flashlight body (like you are trying to remove the batteries) to the left about 1/2 a turn to truly turn it off, otherwise there is a green LED that stays lit on the button which over time will discharge the batteries. Not sure why they did this but its not a deal breaker. Flashlight comes with manual and 4 batteries and charger so that alone is worth about 50% of the cost of the unit. Great flashlight that puts out a very bright flood of light. I would purchase again."
"Received my flashlight a couple of days ago and I use it every night when I walk my dogs. I’ve bought hundreds of flashlights and I think this is probably the best one I’ve ever owned. It’s extremely bright on the high and then you have medium and low. But even when you use low there isn’t a whole Lotta difference between that and using the High. Plus you can tell how much power you have left in your battery. First time I’ve ever owned a Flashlight that could tell you how low your battery is. On a scale from 1 to 9. The flashlight is a handful but that’s it and you would expect that with a flashlight that has 10,000 Lumen,s. It was an Amazon‘s choice and I’m glad I bought it. My opinion."
"Honest opinion; Good point - It is a robust, good quality, bright flashlight and a usable piece of equipment. The heat dissipation isn't and issue. OK point - I don't think this is a 12,000 lumen unit. It is very bright though. It is a FLOODLIGHT and NOT a spot light, nor is it focusable like a maglite. I am satisfied with this torch, and would recommend, however I do like my Maglite much better, especially for the price."
"I live on acreage with coyotes and other wildlife wandering around at night, so I wanted a very bright long beam flashlight so I'd feel safe to let my dog out at night for his pre-bedtime potty. I tried another supposedly bright light but ended up returning it and purchased this one. I love it. The beam of light is very bright, not too narrow and I can see a long way into the distance. Perfect for what I need it for. Battery life is excellent. I also love that it's rechargeable."
"I have been looking for a flashlight like this for a while. I've bought a few that turned out to be trash, so I just stopped looking. Randomly searched Amazon for a big, bright and this bad boy came up. I'm extremely satisfied with it so far. The build seems to be solid, brightness (simply just AMAZING), battery life is solid, but it is a brand new unit so hopefully it goes for a good amount of time."
The Semlos 10000 LED Torch is bright, very bright. It even has the brand name emblazoned on the body. However, this torch does have a few useful features, such as a generous supply of batteries and a charger. First, it helps to keep the voltage down low. Second, the included battery charger helps to extend the life of the batteries. Third, and most importantly, is the ability to turn off completely, which is useful for some tasks. Design and Features: The most common flashlight designs are simply colored plastic cases with a glowing white bulb. These are usually named as basic lights, which is why they look the same on the packaging. The Semlos is different; it is not a basic light, but it is very bright and it has a sturdy belt clip attached. The Semlos IS the standard I go by. It is fairly inexpensive, and there are several variations on the LED icon page. The main differences between the standard and these variations are in the manufacture and availability of the batteries.
To be able to achieve the 10000 lumens the Semlos LED torch use a board of 12 LED bulbs. Each of these LEDs produces 400 lm and when combined with an 18650 battery charger provides a nominal battery voltage of 8.4 volts. The Semlos LED torch is known for producing a bright light that is consistent across the entire lighted area, not just a narrow beam. Due to the large size of the torch, it does not easily fit in your pocket. Therefore we recommend storing it in a lighted container such as a Camel. Camel. Camel . Luminus developed the SST-50 and SST-90, larger LEDs requiring currents of 5 amps and more, but giving off a lot of light. Cree responded with the XM-L which has a larger (than the XR-E/XP-E series of LEDs) single die and can be driven up to 3 amps. Other lights are still in development, but brighter lights are becoming more and more common.
When operating on its high mode it is normal for the torch to get hot because of it very high lumens output. Especially since switching to the low mode, the burst mode, the manual mode or the power mode, the mode dial can get pretty busy turning blue/green/red/off etc. It is very easy to accidentally turn on the flashlight mode mid-task by accident. Minor niggles but annoying when two identicall torches have been purchased within a few weeks of each other, but, and this is the big but, these torches are a superb bit of kit and certainly the most powerful torch I have purchased to date. mad bright and a bargain price wise. not only do you get the torch itself, you also get the 4rechargeable batteries (which are 2200mah each) and a charger.
Thanks to the C-type USB technology the Semlos LED torch will charge much faster than the conventional A-type USB. This is a great feature in and of itself but also contributes to a battery life of several hours per battery. Battery Indicator Light Output: How much light do you need for your task? This is primarily an issue with distance. A shorter distance means less light reaching the ground. Likewise, an extended distance means more light reaching the top of the beam. Throw or Flood: What are you trying to see? Things far away, or things fairly close? Indoors you usually want flood, but outdoors, you may want to lean towards more throw to illuminate distant objects. Runtime: How long does the light need to last on a set of batteries? High performance lights don't usually run for more than an hour.
In addition to faster charging you will also get extended battery life thanks to the insulation protection technology built into the battery. Switch and Features: The primary setting is usually a preference factor for general usage. Some models have special modes like a strobe or SOS feature. Some feature light-emitting diodes that are less efficient at generating heat but can be enabled with the right switch. A 3-band mode is more common, but still not optimal. Additionally, some lights switch on and off using vibration or pulsed light. The Fenix CLP20 is particularly well-suited for this task, providing a smooth glowing beam with no apparent windage or elevation. User interface: Simple 1-mode on/off or multi-mode. Sometimes twisting the knob will cause the mode to switch.
